Finestrat celebrates its 745th anniversary this Saturday, May 17, in a festive atmosphere
Finestrat is a territory with a lot of history, more than seven centuries, and this Saturday, May 17, marks the 745th anniversary of the Carta Pobla. It was in the Middle Ages when this town in the Marina Baixa began to take its first steps, in the legal field, to be constituted. It was King Pere III, son of the great King Jaume I, who granted this document that certifies the birth of this medieval town, which centuries later, would become what it is today.
There are several activities scheduled for this special day. At 12:30 p.m., at the municipal House of Culture, the Pobla Carta 2025 Award will be presented to the neighbor José Climent Llorca, popularly known as Pepe El Fuster. This award is intended to recognize his dedication to the common good and his participation in the maintenance of the Patron Saint Festivities, as well as his dedication to the dissemination and conservation of local gastronomy. Such a solemn act will be accompanied by the music of the violinist Clara Saval. To close this institutional part, the prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Carta Pobla drawing contest.
The festive atmosphere of this commemoration will begin at noon in the Plaça de la Unió Europea, the scene of a great day of festivities that will begin with a popular bar and local gastronomy. Music will not be lacking in this event. First with the bandeta and, in the afternoon, with the orchestra "Tamilah i Fluxà Band", from 5:00 p.m., to end at 8:00 p.m. with the DJ session.
