Finestrat celebrates its 746th anniversary this Saturday

Finestrat celebrates its 746th anniversary this Saturday

The streets of the old town of Finestrat allow us to sketch an image of what was the germ of this municipality of the Marina Baixa, which this year celebrates 746 years and whose festival is celebrated this Saturday, May 16, with muixeranga, live games, wine and tapa tunnel and, of course, music.

The Carta Pobla is the legal document that was given to the town by King Pedro III. It was in the Middle Ages when this town in the Marina Baixa began to take its first steps, in the legal field, to be constituted. It was the son of the great King Jaume I, who granted this document that certifies the birth of this medieval town, which centuries later, would become what it is today.

From 12:30 p.m., in the Plaça de la Unió Europea, the Muixeranga d'Alacant begins, a performance that puts to the test one of the most deeply rooted traditions in the Valencian Community, in which the balance, concentration and sound of the dolçaina and the tabalet keep the audience on tenterhooks.

As a novelty this year you will be able to taste the good wine and the most elaborate tapas in the Wine Tunnel: White, rosé or red, wines to surprise the best palate.

The Comissió de Festes La Xirimbela 2026 will open the popular bar from the beginning of the party until the evening.

The little ones and those who are not so young, will be able to enjoy a human table football, inflatables and other popular workshops.

There will be a bandeta, a session of local DJs and after lunch, the Thamilah & Fluxa Band Orchestra

And as a surprise "Menuda Parà". Bet your box. The "Beast" will stop at a plot that can win you €1,000.

At 2:00 p.m. you can enjoy a magnificent mascletà by the pyrotechnic Vulcano.
