2026 starts well for Finestrat in terms of tourism, as it has become an Adhered Smart Destination, by accrediting that it has begun the implementation of the Smart Tourist Destination model. This is a fundamental step for the implementation of this model that places it among the municipalities at the forefront of tourism development on the national scene. The commitment is to advance on the path already started in the field of innovation, governance, sustainability and technology.

The signing of adhesion to the Smart Tourist Destination network of the Secretary of State for Tourism, managed by the State Mercantile Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies, deepens the agreement that Finestrat has acquired to continue advancing along this path. The municipality has been part of this network since its constitution in 2019 and seeks to contribute to improving the competitiveness of tourist destinations and the quality of life of its residents.

This action has been carried out thanks to the European Next Generation EU funds and is valid until December 31, 2027. The collaboration of all areas of the Finestrat City Council and the municipality's tourism business fabric has been essential to obtain the necessary information to evaluate this holiday destination based on 97 requirements and 261 indicators of the set of key axes of a Smart Tourist Destination.
