The Christmas spirit can be felt in every street across Finestrat. The town's main thoroughfares, the shopping boulevard and the beach are all festooned with lights, mistletoe and traditional seasonal decorations. The municipal Tourist offices are also showing off their Christmas finery to remind tourists visiting us that this town celebrates Christmas in style and doesn't skimp on anything: a Christmas market in the historic centre from 16 to 18 December, Christmas garland workshops showing more than a hundred people how to make their own decorations, plus a packed cultural programme for everyone to enjoy on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year and the Three Kings festival.

What's more, Finestrat is lighting up Christmas sustainably. The Town Council is acutely aware of climate change, the energy crisis and soaring electricity bills, prompting the organisation to put in place an Energy Saving Plan. All through the holidays, Christmas lights on roundabouts and in parks and squares will be switched on at 6 pm and off at 2 am instead of at 8 am, an energy saving of around 40% every day. Added to this, all the lights use LED technology, which is more efficient and sustainable.
