The illustrated novel 'Al-Azraq, el malson de Jaume I' will be presented by its author at the Museu de Finestrat

The writer Just Sellés, together with the illustrator Dani Olmo, will present the novel "Al-Azraq, el Malson de Jaume I" at the Museu de Finestrat, located in the Parc de Carré. The authors of this book will begin their lecture at 7:00 p.m. this Friday, April 19. The protagonist is a historical figure who was fought by King Jaume I in the thirteenth century and who lived in Alicante. This volume, with more than 400 pages and 1800 vignettes, tells the story of the 15 years that the Christian monarch was fighting this Arab warrior, who was finally defeated.

Al-Azraq was a warrior and a diplomat with a great sense of statehood. He was known by this name because of the blue colour of his eyes and was, as the title of the book says, the nightmare of Jaume I, as he was one of the last Arab viziers of Al-Andalus in the lands of Alicante and Valencia. He was in the mountains of the regions of L'Alcoià, El Comptat and Les Marines, and also left his mark on El Castell de Finestrat. The writer Just Sellés will talk about all these stories this Friday during the presentation of the book.

Battles, sieges, assaults and revolts, conspiracies and betrayals. A historical story based on real events, in which the authors have been as faithful as possible to the settings and their characters. Just Sellés' book, illustrated by Dani Olmo, recreates the last years of eastern Al-Andalus, and does so by giving voice to the vanquished, in the first person, the man who raised the banner of the crescent moon until his death.
