The month of September begins with a play at the Casa de Cultura

Finestrat's cultural programme gets underway this September with a theatre play. This Sunday at 7.30 pm in the town's Casa de Cultura, theatre group Catharsis will be presenting the work Niebla by Miguel de Unamuno, first published in 1914. The theatrical adaptation of Unamuno’s novel has been done by the play’s director, Manuel Palazón Martí, with the intention of familiarising audiences with the author’s thinking in an enjoyable way.

With Niebla, the Bilbao-born writer wanted to show his existential concerns, like human coexistence, the desire for personal fulfilment, anguish in the face of death and the afterlife, among others. The play's leading character, Augusto Pérez, moves from one woman to another without staying with any of them, mainly because of his attachment to his late mother. He feels existentially lost, in a kind of fog (hence the title of Niebla). The audience can sense what the outcome is going to be before the play ends.
